corn kernels

From the cobs of corn, we obtain the precious corn kernels, concentrates of health and nutrients which are perfect both for preparing the inevitable popcorn, as well as for enjoying light salads or for accompanying meat-based main courses. Corn kernels can be purchased preserved inside packages such as classic cans, or alternatively, in sachets (in the latter case especially those dedicated to the preparation of popcorn) or, finally, they can also be extracted from common cobs.

Use in cooking

There are many recipes in which corn kernels can be used: from popcorn to salads, corn kernels are also ideal for accompanying second courses.

Preservation

The corn kernels - if still inside their original, tightly closed packaging - can be stored in a cool, dry place: if the package is open, they should be placed in the refrigerator.

Curiosity

Corn has a rather curious scientific name, namely, Zea mays whose meaning means "bread for living".
