Ingredient

pears

Pears are fruits particularly rich in vitamin C, potassium and also fructose, as well as being characterized by a notable antioxidant capacity. Pears also stimulate diuresis and digestion, as well as being perfect for those people who have diabetic problems, being rich in a simple sugar such as fructose. There are many varieties of existing pears, among which the most famous are certainly the following: Kaiser, William, Guyot, Abate and Decana, each of which differs in a particular way due to the colors of the skins, the aroma and the flavor more or less sugary than the pulp.

Use in cooking

There are quite a few recipes based on pears found in our traditional cuisine: they are also eaten simply as fruit, they are used to create syrups or jams. They can also be eaten with cheese or, finally, they are an excellent filling for many desserts.

Preservation

Pears can be stored directly inside a fruit bowl, or alternatively, in the vegetable drawer of the fridge, where they must be isolated - due to ethylene - from other fruit and vegetables.

Curiosity

In the past, the pear fruit was indicated as a truly natural calming agent for people with a particularly exuberant and agitated nature.
