Ingredient

salted lime

From a historical point of view, the origin of the lime can be traced back to those countries characterized by a tropical climate, where the citrus fruit itself grows better, as in the case of Malaysia or India: from these places, the same citrus fruits then came sent mainly to the UK. Salted limes, due to their strong and pleasantly sour taste, are suitable for giving an extra touch of flavor to preparations characterized by not too strong flavours, as may be the case with certain meats, fish or even vegetables.

Use in cooking

In cooking, salted limes can be used mainly in combination with chicken, although they are also perfect to accompany vegetables and other meat dishes.

Preservation

Salted limes - properly kept inside their container - can be stored without problems in a dark, cool and dry environment.

Curiosity

The lime has Asian origins: in fact, it was imported into the Mediterranean countries by none other than those who took part in the crusades around the thirteenth century.
