Savory is an aromatic plant highly appreciated for its flavor and scent, which lends itself perfectly to transforming second courses particularly based on fish and meat and, secondarily, also on vegetables. In the past, savory was used as an aphrodisiac and was also much loved by the famous French monarch Louis XIV, the Sun King. In our country, savory is most widespread in the central-northern regions, where it grows and is cultivated - as indeed - even spontaneously, appearing as a small shrub about thirty centimeters high, with characteristic white flowers with light shades of pink.
Use in cooking
Savory is mainly used to best season second courses prepared with ingredients such as fish, meat, legumes and vegetables.
Preservation
Generally, savory is dried, as this solution makes its conservation easier, which must take place in cool, dark and dry places.
Curiosity
In Ancient Greece, savory was an aromatic herb used as an aphrodisiac, as well as being used as a votive offering to Dionysus.
