Ingredient

banana

The banana is a highly sought after tropical fruit especially appreciated by those who usually engage in demanding outdoor sporting activities, particularly in the hot months of the year, since the high potassium content allows for significant relief from discomfort generated by cramps: on the other hand, however, bananas are poor in cellulose, thus causing greater constipation. The degree of digestibility of the banana essentially depends on its level of ripeness: when it tends to be dark in color, in fact, it is richer in sugars.

Use in cooking

Generally speaking, the banana is used to prepare desserts, such as ice cream or mousse, as well as, in tropical cuisine, also as a side dish for meat dishes.

Preservation

Depending on the level of ripeness, the banana can be stored in the fridge - when black - or in the fruit bowl, when unripe.

Curiosity

Although the banana is generally associated with use as a fruit, in reality, it is used - when not yet ripe - as a vegetable to accompany meat.
