shitake mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms, as the name itself states, mean "oak mushroom" in Japanese: their popularity on a culinary level dates back to 199 AD, with information relating to this historical period. The scientific name, lentinula edodes, well indicates what the level of appreciation may be on the part of people with regards to the culinary aspect: in fact, in the Hellenic language, edodè indicates what is edible without any type of related problem. In addition to this, some scientific studies have recently highlighted a correlation between the consumption of shiitake mushrooms and the decline of the tumor which particularly affects the pancreas.
