Ingredient

tequila

Tequila is a Mexican distillate, which can be produced with this name only in the Central American country - and more precisely in the state of Jalisco, starting from blue agave - the latter due to the fact that it is exploited for the purpose of obtaining a distillate, is called agave tequilana. Depending on the percentage of blue agave content, tequila is more or less pure, and sugar cane or, alternatively, corn syrup can also be added to this. Tequila is generally characterized by having an alcohol content of between 35 and 45 degrees, and it is obtained through two distillations.

Use in cooking

Like any spirit, tequila is perfect for ending a dinner in the best possible way: it can be enjoyed in different ways, such as with lemon and salt, as it is used to prepare cocktails.

Preservation

Tequila must be stored, like most spirits, in a cool, dry and dark place, keeping the bottle perfectly closed.

Curiosity

The name of this distillate, tequila, has a rather explanatory meaning in the Mexican language: in fact it translates into Italian as volcano.
