Sicilian gastronomy is affected by the influence of the historical presence on the island of the Arabs, Spaniards and Greeks. Very famous are the arancini, a dish of Arab origin; famous is the caponata, but also the cassata and cannoli, stuffed with ricotta. Sicily is also, for obvious reasons, land of fish, and it is therefore natural to find exceptional fish dishes, such as beccafico sardines.
